Chairman’s Newsletter 2 – November 2022

Posted on November 26th, 2022

Hello everyone

Following on from my Newsletter a couple of weeks ago, here are some key reminders in relation to the White Horse Cycling Challenge and the Mince Pie Rides – our annual set of fundraising activities in support of Whizz-Kidz. I should say that I have been in touch with the Whizz-Kidz HQ team and they are very supportive and very appreciative of all that we are doing.

THE WHITE HORSE CYCLE CHALLENGE 2022 – tomorrow until Saturday 10th December

The main reminder here is to get out on your bikes and do your own challenge ride(s) as often as you can over the next fortnight. There is still time to book in via the website for the kick-off ride tomorrow morning and after that it’s up to you! Don’t forget to take a mince pie and a selfie.

THE MINCE PIE RIDES – Sunday 11th December

Preparations for this are going well – the main thing to mention here is a plea for you all to get stuck in with the key supplies of mince pies, mulled wine, standard red wine or cranberry based juice beforehand, so we can maximise the giving to Whizz-Kidz. Contact me for drop-off details.

LUNCH AT THE FOX – Sunday 11th December

This is filling up fast, so please book your places and choose your menu options ASAP. Please let Di know by SATURDAY 5th DECEMBER. Contact me for details.

We also need to ask for a deposit from those who book. Could you please send £10 per person to the club bank account (with your name and ‘Fox’ in the description):

Sort code: 20-90-91
Account number: 23556050

Just one thing to add – we are planning to hold a winter social event at the Grove Rugby Club, with a focus on GPS gadgets and club clothing. The clothing manufacturer can’t get a bulk order turned around before Christmas now, so we will be scheduling this for early in the New Year. Details to follow.

Happy cycling!
John
