Hello everyone
Without wishing to remind you how close we already are to Christmas (oh – I guess I just did…), we are finalising the details of our big charity event – the famous (or occasionally infamous) Mince Pie Ride. This is always a very popular event and we are publicising it widely around neighbouring cycling clubs. Last year we had the amazing sight of 80 or so riders taking over the National Trust car park at White Horse Hill, despite the sub-zero temperature making it a considerable challenge to actually get up there at all! We’d love to do the same this year (although a bit warmer would be nice). See below for details.
======================
On behalf of CTC Wantage, you are invited to join us on our annual festive ride from Wantage to Uffington White Horse Hill, which again is in aid of Whizz Kidz, the children’s mobility charity. This year the date is Sunday 11th December.
Guests and other cycling clubs are very welcome to cycle with us from Wantage Market Place at 10am or join us at White Horse Hill NT car park (grid ref SU 293866) from 11:15 to 12:00 for mince pies and mulled wine. All proceeds on the day will go to Whizz Kidz.
We shall have rides at 1*, 2* and 3* grades – see separate ride entries on our website (www.ctcwantage.org.uk) for route details. This is a very popular event, so please arrive in good time for registration. There will be a short briefing at 10 am. The 3* ride will set off soon after, the 2* ride 5 mins after that and the 1* at about 10:15.
Afterwards the rides will continue to the Fox at Denchworth for a pub lunch (at 13:15). There will also be a ride directly back to Wantage.
It would greatly help our planning if you could give us some advance notice of likely numbers. In particular, if you would like to join us for the lunch then you need to let us know numbers ASAP. Please contact Steve Boreham at promotions@ctcwantage.org.uk.
======================
Please make a note in your diaries and feel free to pass this invitation on if you know other cyclists who may be interested.
The pub lunch is a particularly important part to plan – we do not yet have a confirmed booking as we need to get some initial idea of numbers. Could you therefore make it a priority to let me know ASAP if you would like to join us for that?
Many thanks and best regards
JT
