Description:Hilly all-day ride in the Cotswolds. Park at the visitor centre next to Cotswold Outdoor, ready to start riding at 09:30.Out via Kemble, Daglingworth and Northleach, returning via Bourton-on-the-Water, Windrush and Fairford. Lots of pretty villages, and some strenuous climbs (over 1000m of climbing on the ride). We will forage for lunch when we're hungry, probably around Northleach. Please contact Chris if you intend to come - the ride will not run without support. |

Driving up on the A419 gave a little entertainment from the time-triallists who were getting buffeted by the wind and the passing lorries.Fist incident was a great big bang coming from Des's back tyre, and the resulting inner tube having 6 or so holes in it! It was a useful breather anyway. Lunch was taken in the bakery at Northleach before immediately climbing a mean little hill on what is now becoming the "Walters after lunch hill test". Beautiful Cotswold villages followed until the lurid honey-spot of Bourton-on-the-Water was reached. Quickly passing through, we all made it up the challenge of Little Rissington hill before some delightful lanes took us back to Whelford for a spirited dash back with the wind at our tail. Another puncture was much less dramatic in intensity, but the hissing sound went on for quite a while. A long and tiring ride, quite often fighting the wind, but very enjoyable and rewarding. Well done for making it around, everyone. | ||
