Leader:
John Talbot
Start Time:
6:30 pm
Start Location:
OMH
Description:
Long, hilly, quick - or any combination! - 35-45km

Hillier ride this week. A figure-8 ride with a couple of hills.

We'll go up Grove Park Drive past Lain's Barn and through Lockinge and Ginge to West Hendred. Along Featherbed Lane to Milton Hill and into Harwell.

Along A417 to West Hagbourne and up and over Hagbourne Hill to Chilton. Back to Milton Hill via Rowstock. Down Steventon Hill and a chance for a sprint along Hanney Road to East Hanney.

Depending on time we will then either return to Grove via West Hanney and Denchworth or the quick way along the A338.

Report:
As we were waiting to set off the rain started. A heavyish shower that lasted as we went up past Lain's Barn and through Lockinge. It had mostly stopped by the time we got to Harwell though.

It was obviously nutters on the road night tonight as there were some really stupid manoeuvres. We didn't let the petrol heads put us off though.

The always surprisingly tough Hagbourne Hill stretched the legs and then it was plain sailing through Rowstock and Steventon in late evening sunshine. The Hanney Road was as long as ever and we took the quick way back to Grove having covered 25 miles in just over 90mins. Good effort everyone.
Distance:
