Tuesday Evening 2* Ride 2*
Leader:
Chris Walters
Start Time:
6:30 pm
Start Location:
OMH
Description:
Enjoy an easy-paced ride around the local lanes.

This week we'll be taking in Hackpen Hill, the glorious ride up Seven Barrows (much easier than Hackpen) and then back through Goosey. 37km, lumpy, but we'll go at a pace to suit the whole group.
Riders:
Brian Hipwell
Chris Walters
Des Higgs
John Stamp
Steve Boreham
Riders = 5
Report:
I had hoped nobody would turn up, as the weather forecast was poor and deteriorating... just like my back tyre, which was flat when I took it out of the car. A quick tube change later (thanks for the loan of the track pump, Phil!), and we were ready to go, with 5 riders who had been offered a shorter easier route, but turned it down for the planned climbing.

There was a bit of breeze too, and it was good to be blown along uphill after Holborn Hill to the B4001. Hackpen Hill was climbed, and Brian left us to ride at a faster pace, so we were down to 4 for the wind-braked descent down towards Lambourn, and the wind-assisted climb back up past Seven Barrows.

Blowingstone Hill descent was taken with care, and the route back via Kingston Lisle (bye, Des) and Goosey passed off without a hitch, except for the incessant and increasing rain.

Well done to Steve and John - you rode really well on a long, lumpy 2* in awful weather conditions. It's really great to see the progress that some of our 2* riders are making!

Distance:
37.50 km (23.30 mi)
