Description:The 2* Anniversary Ride will take us along the famous Spring Line - all those villages below the Ridgeway where water seeps out from the chalk rock and various local rivers and streams form, including the River Ock and Letcombe Brook. The good news is that we follow the base of the ridge, and we carefully avoid going up it! We will go out through the Letcombes to Childrey, along to Sparsholt and Westcot, then past the base of White Horse Hill to Ashbury, where we will drop down to Shrivenham. From there we head back through the Vale to Uffington, arriving at the Village Hall at 3 just in time for the special tea and cake stop. After the celebrations, we will take the direct route back via Baulking, Goosey and Denchworth. About 32 miles in total, at a gentle speed of around 12mph. |

It was also wonderful to see old timers from those first club rides 20 years ago, alongside new riders who have only discovered the club in the last few months.The ride was fun, it was a big group that kept together very well, lots of chat and banter and the cloud cover kept things mercifully cooler that in recent days. It was also great to see Uffington Village Hall full of cyclists chatting, enjoying themselves and doing what cyclists do best - eating cake! And what a great selection of cakes, all donated by members and in some cases home made by them! We finished with a gentle potter back across the Vale. Thanks to everyone involved, it was a great day in the life of CTC Wantage! | ||
