Description:Heading for the secret villages to the east of Wantage tonight. Out of Grove past Williams, up and over Lains Barn hill and down the other side to Ginge. Then through Lockinge and the Ardington Estate to West Hendred and (weather permitting) a cunning cut through to East Hendred. Then Featherbed Lane and a nice swoop down Steventon Hill to Steventon. Back over Cow Common to Hanney and then familiar roads home via Denchworth.21 miles at a nice steady pace of around 12mph. |

It looked pretty dicey when we set of, with black clouds all around, and I'm afraid your leader's optimistic assessment of the prevailing wind direction proved to be very much over-optimistic. If anything, the rain cloud appeared to be actively following the ride along!At one particularly saturated moment near Ardington we almost turned back, but then there was a brief interlude and we decided to plough on regardless. The ride proceeded on the planned route, but with regular soakings. However, good fun was (I think) had by all. Welcome to Chas on his first ride with us. Between Hanney and Denchworth, your leader had to stop the ride for a fairly life changing phone call. That was unexpected! Get in touch if you want to know the cryptic secret! | ||
