Tuesday Evening 3* Ride | 3* |
---|
Leader:Nick Dunton |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Weekly 1.5 - 2 hours at a riding pace of 20-24km/h (13-15mph). May be hilly.A scenic trip to Didcot and the NR5 cycle-path behind the power station. This is a wildlife haven and alive with baby bunnies and birdsong at this time of year. Route is fully surfaced and fine for road bikes. Fairly flat route of 46.7km, so aiming for a reasonable pace. Note: in places this route uses busier roads than the majority of our rides, so please avoid if you dislike riding in traffic. Optional stop at The Fox in Denchworth at the end of the ride. [I'll be parked here, so find your own back to Grove, if need be.] |

Riders:Adrian WestAlan Gale Andy Butcher Chris Walters David Smith John Talbot Jon Townsin Karen Townsin Katherine Boyce Louis Hall Mike Cooke Nick Dunton Nicole Pethybridge Phil Stubbings Richard Preece Roger Postbeschild Ursula Hallam Riders = 17 Weather:Report:Stunning summer evening, although a little cool on bear arms by the finish. A big group but we just about managed to keep together, at least until the faster riders were let off the leash in Hanney to dash for the Fox. Thanks to Richard for sweeping. The road from Harwell to Didcot has traffic-lighted road-works as the new southern access road to Western Park is built, so better avoided for the time being. NR5 was enjoyable, although the leader had somehow contrived to be at the back by that time, so missed the bunny-hopping opportunities. | ||
