49.5 km at a riding pace of 20-24km/h. At the tougher end of 3* - hilly but steady climbing for the most part and last 10km pancake flat. Out through Wantage and the Letcombes, over Hackpen and down into Lambourne, over Kingstone Down to Ashbury, then home through Kingston Lisle, Goosey and Denchworth [optional stop at the Fox for the social evening].

Nick Dunton
Riders = 6

Weather:
sunny
Report:
A simply stunning evening with the Vale looking its best. Scorchio to start but soon cooling to a most pleasant temperature. A team of well-matched riders meant we maintained good pace throughout [my computer said average 24.6 kph]. There was a short delay while David repaired a rear-wheel puncture halfway up Hackpin. All enjoyed the new tarmac coming off Hackpin to Lambourne. Kingstone Down was ascended in fine style with Chris taking the KoM points. The minor summits along the Spring Road were fiercely contested. We caught the two-star riders at the junction after Kingston Lisle and Des jumped off the front to join us: is there nothing he won’t do to get to the bar first?
Distance:
49.70 km (30.88 mi)
