Description:Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. Tonight a clockwise loop from Denchworth, through Charney Bassett, Lyford and West Hanney. The plan is to return to Denchworth via the restricted byway - suitable for mountain bikes and hybrids.A flat 12miles in total. |

We let the other groups go, then headed out to Denchworth to pick up Tony and Christine, new but experienced riders, from Denchworth Manor.The group stayed together well through Charney Basset, Lyford and West Hanney, where we made a tour of the village and took the group decision to head back on the road rather than the track which had been wet and muddy earlier in the day. Unfortunately, Bill made an unscheduled dismount here, his fall only broken by his youngest grandchild! Luckily no harm was done and we cycled on to admire the community pub. The new surface from West Hanney to Denchworth was a dream to ride on and we look forward to the rest of the roads in the area being completed. Welcome Maisie and Jess, Ellie's younger sisters, and Jo and Ian, Mum and Dad. Welcome too, to new rider Paul, recently moved to Wantage and to Tony and Christine. We hope to see you on another ride soon. Thanks everyone for a lovely sociable ride. | ||
