Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:***BRIDGING RIDE***This is the third of our Bridging Ride series designed to help those who would like to progress to the next level of cycling. As such it will be ridden at the higher end of the pace range. Our leisurely and sociable 10-mile club rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of about 10 miles at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph, following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. This week we explore a little further to the east. Out via Charlton to Lockinge and Ginge, the permissive track across to East Hendred and then some nifty bridleways back to West Hendred and Ardington. We finish off with a little climb over to Lains Barn and the final descent back to Grove. 14 miles and we will tweak the average speed up just a little as this is a bridging ride. |

Riders:Bryony StottDiana Whidborne Jan McCabe John Hogston John Tranter Martyn Wigmore Paul McCabe Steve Boreham Steve Swanton Riders = 9 Weather:Report:A really nice ride with great company. Super hot, but it didn't feel too bad as long as we kept moving. It was particularly great to welcome Bryony back after "maternity leave". It was good to see that she had taken the baby seat off the shopping bike in order to improve the aerodynamics. Just needs tri-bars now... All went according to plan as we worked our way around Wantage and out into the countryside. It quickly became clear that Di know everyone who was out getting the harvest in, and Martyn knew pretty much everyone else we came across! We met up with Steve S on his way home from work out by Ginge and then headed back on the tracks from East Hendred to West Hendred, through the churchyard, over a couple of gates/stiles (yes, the shopping bike was the heaviest) and across the fields to Ardington before the final effort over Lains Barn hill. Pretty much a perfect evening! | ||
