Report:Just three of us out today, with Barry and James proving to be 'Easy on a Sunday' regulars. Although, after pootling out to Letcombe, an ascent of Gramp's Hill probably does not qualify as easy - but you have to get up to The Ridgeway somehow!Once at the top, we set a southbound course, undulating our way to Sheepdrove, then turning left. The trails were dry, and thankfully the grass had been cut back so we could see where we were putting our wheels. At Eastbury, James and I arrived slightly ahead of Barry and swung left and waited for him. We didn't spot him whizz straight by just behind us. After a few minutes without sign, we retraced our route to look for him - but of course, there was nothing to be seen. It was a few minutes before we established contact by text message and realised that if we had stayed in the same place we would have found each other already. Reunited (and it feels so good) we continued on our way, up and down passing many fields full of wild flowers and humming with the noise of birds and insects. We worked our way across to Whatcombe Farm and enjoyed the descent, where the speed humps are shaped to push you gently in to the air. Then it was north to Fawley, Farnborough and a short stint on the B4494 before a run down Jolly Green Giant and Goddards Brook - and back to Wantage. Glad to say we arrived back with all 3 of us present - and grinning! | ||
