Description:As a courtesy to the ride leader, we ask that you pre-book for this ride. All-day touring ride (80-100km / 50-65 miles), lunch and possibly tea stop en route, at a riding pace of 18-22km/h (11-14mph). Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing almost inevitable. This is a pre-bookable ride. To book a place, text your name to the ride leader no earlier than 9:00am on the Sunday before the ride. You will receive confirmation or be advised that the ride is fully booked. A reserve list will be maintained.Please note 9am start which takes pressure off due to shorter days. A flattish ride out via Lechlade and Coleshill, (where we will stop for lunch). Then gets a bit hillier whilst we climb back out of the Thames Valley and head towards Ashbury. After that back to Grove by a relatively familiar route. |

Report:Warm temperatures (for January), the lack of rain and sunny intervals all bode well for lovely ride conditions. Unfortunately however, the weather threw us a bit of a curve ball - a stiff westerly.We had a headwind for most of the morning - very strong at times - but we all tackled it with energy and smiles. Roger (with battery assistance) took the front for some of the most exposed bits - which was very welcome, (thanks Roger). Needless to say we were all ready for lunch by the time we got to Coleshill and the Carpenters' Arms came up trumps with good food and friendly service. We sat outside and the sun even shone for most of the time. We did get a little chilly towards the end - but we soon warmed up as we climbed up to Shrivenham before heading back along the Vale. We had mostly done the roads before - but more often in the other direction. We agreed reversing the route made for a nice ride and a welcome change. As ever a great group and a great day out. | ||
