You will receive confirmation or be advised that the ride is fully booked. A reserve list will be maintained. As you’ve probably guessed the aim of this ride will be to pass over the River Thames multiple times giving us some stunning views. This will happen in the first half of the ride. Starting from Grove we’ll head out through the Hanney’s & across to Abingdon - On -Thames, this is where we’ll go over our first Bridge. We’ll then have a further five bridges to cycle over along with some lovely views of the Thames as we pass through Culham, Appleford, Clifton Hampden, Dorchester, Shillingford, Wallingford & finally Goring. We’ll stop for lunch in Goring, giving us a choice of two really nice cafes to choose from. The village Cafe & Pierreponts Cafe. Both serve excellent food! If the weather is nice, then it will be possible to buy a takeaway & sit by the river. Once refreshed you’ll be glad to know that we are NOT cycling up Streatley Hill!! Instead we’ll head across Ashampstead Common passing on through the villages of Yattendon, Hampstead Norrey’s & Beedon. Oppositional tea stop at Saddleback Farm! We’ll then finish with the wonderful decent of Chain Hill. Ride distance 59 miles/ 94km. |

Riders:Andy PixtonEddie Little Jo Little John Tranter Joy Arthur Katherine Boyce Nicole Pethybridge Richard Pethybridge Roger Postbeschild Sharon Bedford Stephanie Haddrell Riders = 11 Weather:Report:We split into two groups with a small gap, with Jo leading the second group. Weather conditions were pretty good, mild with light cloud along with the sun showing it’s face from time to time! Traffic conditions were also very light throughout the ride. For a bank holiday this was a surprise, but I’m not complaining! I think I can safely say that as we passed over the Thames on more than one occasion, the views were pretty good! We stopped for lunch at the Chocolate Village cafe Goring where we all managed to sit outside for lunch. Service was very efficient & the food was very nice. After lunch we waved goodbye to the Thames & headed into the rolling countryside, a complete contrast to the morning’s ride bringing some scenic views of valleys & woods which made for an excellent ride back home. Thanks to you all for making this a special day! Many thanks to Jo for leading group two.Credit to Richard for the excellent group photo taken at Abingdon. | ||
