The evening was sunny with a breeze and the route was out towards the Hendreds (don't know waht each one is). Lains Bard hill saw the split of the groups with the faster goup speeding through Ardington, Ginge and halting at the first Henred - opposite The Hae. We had a breather here whilst Des found a stray cysclist to have a chat with. The slower group deciede to take the official cycling route from Ginge which is a bit rough and come out in the other Hendred. Both groups went down Featherbed lane with the slower goup turning off the main road to go to Steventon. The faster group also went to Steventon but rode a few extra miles by cycling down to the rounderbout (the group was split because of the traffic lights), up through Milton (I still can't understand how there can be a stream so high up) and down the the Sutton Courtney - Drayton road. We met a few 3 person persuit s here. At Steventon the was a bit of a race along Cow Lane and at the end the the leadres just caught a glimpse of the slower group heading off through Hanney. After a break whilst the riders regrouped we again set off through the Hanneys and yes we endd up in Denchworth again. Timing was spot on wit both groups joining at the junction by Tescos. Distance just under 24 miles at an average of 15.5 mph. Many thanks to Henk for sweeping.Peter B | ||
