Description:The Hanney Explorer (10 miles). Another Tuesday evening classic this week as we head for the Hanneys to explore some of their hidden (and picturesque) corners and then use a couple sections of bridleway to bring us back to Denchworth. Although the tracks are rough (and stony) in places, the sense of being in the middle of nowhere is amazing. These provide a gentle introduction to off-road riding suitable for hybrid and touring bikes.Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Our leisurely and sociable Tuesday evening 1* rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of 10-15 miles (16-24km) at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph (13-16kph), following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

The lanes were ablaze with cow parsley in the verges and hawthorn blossom in the hedges. Under Martyn's direction we even got in a spot of mayfly spotting on the Letcombe Brook by Hanney Upper Mill. Thanks for your company on a thoroughly enjoyable evening. | ||
