Report:
The Windy Ride

The ride set off to to a stiff south wester, and route to Ashbury by way of Kingston Lisle was chosen in an attempt to miss some of the wind (not entirely successfully). Over Ashbury hill, the riders were faced with a strong cross wind down to Lambourn and on to Great Shefford. Despite the wind the ride moved at a good speed headed by the fittest riders. The promise of Pub stop at Boxford failed as it was closed and to add to the disappointment, it then started to rain. Moving out of Boxford and under the M4, the weather improved and for the first time the wind was behind us. Left and on to Leckhampstead Thicket and Brightwalton. Finally on to the B4494 for the fast descent down into Wantage.

On arrival in Wantage at 16:15 to find the alternative tea stop at the museum was closed so a number made for Sainsburys. Overall, a very good ride spoilt by the strong winds.
