Report:Brian and Edith cycled out to Stoken Church on Friday 24th October on a Glorious sunny late morning stopping for tea and cake at the River side cafe at Benson. Riding on to Stoken Church climbing the hill through the cutting parrell to the M40 to reach the venue for Golden Beeches weekend arriving before the frost and the Dark. We staying at a family run Hotel atidstone for the weekend.Saturday morning we arrived at Stoken Church for the first ride of the weekend we decided to take the longer ride with promises of the hills not being to steep or the speed to fast from Barry. The weather was set fair for the first part of the day we headed out in the direction of Hambeldon Lock passing Turberville from Vicar of Dibley fame down in the valley looking very quite and peaceful.crisscrossing several of the major London road networks to reach Windsor Great Park. cycling in the park for several miles enjoying the car free routes and enjoying the a selection of the wild life that live there. when leaving the Park in Windsor for a hair brain trip through the town and sightseering trafric past the Castle Gates scary. The ride back to Stoken Church became hilly fast and furious to much for me. We decided to take the more direct route back a very hilly climb from Marlow to Stoken church and the rain began to fall. We made it back intime for tea feeling very tired but glad that I had done the ride. Sunday morning arrived very wet decided we would head straight back home the same route we had arrived but with the big hills mainly down we made good time and arrived home in time for lunch. 120 miles travelled over the weekend. | ||
