Riders:Dean DouglasDerek Boutle Des Higgs Ginny Henderson John Tranter Lyn Taylor Neil Warner Sorrel Williams Steven Rogers Riders = 9 Report:Various weather reports for Sunday made for dismal reading. However nine riders turned out and enjoyed a barmy 6 degress with clear skys and a brisk wind. Des volunteered to act as a hare and set off a little early up Chain Hill, due to my role of leading from the rear I don't know if he was caught or not.Ginny and Sorrel departed after cycling the difficult hills, thank you for attending. Due to the weather over night a large amount of debris had been blown or washed onto the road. Just as I said we may be early for the pub stop Des picked up a puncture, (sorry Des my fault) a few miles later Neil fell to the same fate. Having tackled all the difficult hills everyone was ready for lunch. This included Richard who has sole claim to being the only Wantage CTC motorist member. Des decided to miss lunch and pushed on back to Wantage. Most cyclists chose the local brew 6X for its hi-energy and protein value, to help with the return leg. On the re-start there was no time for a gentle warm up,it was a turn right straight up Stag Hill. John found the hills difficult but was weighed down by the large wedge of cheese he had smuggled out of the pub from his ploughmans. The hill down to Ashbury was a welcome sight and with a few miles back to Wantage, riders peeled off and went their own way. Well done and thank you to everyone for making my first "lead ride" a success. | ||
