Description:A scenic loop around the Vale to Lyford and West Hanney (11 miles). It can get cold in the lanes on April evenings, so please wrap up; gloves recommended.Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Our leisurely and sociable Tuesday evening 1* rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of 10-15 miles (16-24km) at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph (13-16kph), following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

Description:This is day 1 of a two day visit to the New Forest. We are making it a weekend away and are staying in Lyndhurst from Friday to Sunday. We usually all meet up Friday evening for a meal at La Pergola, which is close to the ride starting point. It would be possible, however, to travel down early on Saturday and just treat it as a day ride.This year's New Forest ride has a new route, heading us into unfamilar territory to the north and west of the forest. As always we're keeping to quieter roads where possible and should see a good range of scenery, including both forest and heathland. We head to the north of Lyndhurst before dropping down near Fordingbridge. Here we do a quick extra loop to get to the first cafe stop at The Potting Shed at Hyde (27 miles) before rejoining the main route. We then skirt the edge of Ringwood before heading to The Old Farmhouse at Burley (50 miles), after which we take a familiar route back to Lyndhurst, including the ascent of Bolderwood Drive. 62 miles (100km) and just under 1000m of climbing. There is more climbing than in previous years, but is spread out throughout the day. The starting place for both days is the Bolton's Bench car park on the B3056 Lyndhurst to Beaulieu road. When approaching from Lyndhurst village (on the A35 Southampton Road) the B3056 is on the right hand side, opposite the fire station. The car park is immediately on the left. It has a large car park. Lyndhurst has several small hotels, including the Ormonde House Hotel and The Penny Farthing. There are also some B&B's. We have booked The Ormonde House Hotel for when we stay, and can highly recommend it as they are very friendly and helpful, but the area is popular so it would be best to book quickly. I am limiting both days to 12 riders, as any more is too much on these roads and we will split into 2 groups for ease of riding. Please contact me if you would like to put your name down. I have set up a Whatsapp group to help co-ordinate everything . I have contact details for nearly everyone but please could you ensure you have downloaded Whatsapp onto your phone. The ride is already fully booked. If anyone wants to be on a waiting list then please let me know. |

Description:The 2025 Cycling UK Wantage AGM will be held as follows:Logistics: Date – Wednesday 30th April 2025 Time – 19.00 for food, 19:45 for business Location – Grove Rugby Club, Wasborough Field Recreation Ground, Cane Lane, Grove, OX12 0FL Note that for those not familiar with the location the car park is off Cane Lane and if driving you have to approach from the west (off Denchworth Road/Recreation Lane or Brereton Drive). Walking or cycling you can cut through Cane Lane from Main Street. The postcode is accurate and sat nav should manage to get you there. There is plenty of parking. The car park is quite dark and the entrance to the Rugby Club is from the edge of the playing fields (you will see the rear of the building from the car park). Food details: The Rugby Club has a good bar and we are bringing in the food courtesy of Millbrook Fish and Chips in Grove. Di Whidborne has kindly offered to sort out the food orders. Menu choices are given below, please let Di know your choices by FRIDAY 25th APRIL so we can pre-order with the shop. Di’s email is dianawhidborne@me.com.
