Chairman’s Newsletter 2 – February 2021

Posted on February 15th, 2021

Hello everyone

Our weekly programme of social virtual pub nights on Zoom have been going very well – many thanks to Steve and Lorna Swanton for putting this together. There has been some great chat as well as a successful quiz night a couple of weeks ago. We now have a busy series of special themed Wednesday evenings coming up and we want to make sure that everyone is aware. As usual, we will not be putting the joining details on public view. These have been sent separately by email.

The upcoming series is as follows:

Wednesday 17th February: Cycling in Dumfries and Galloway – Lorna and Steve Swanton will share their experience of cycling in this less-visited but beautiful corner of Scotland last summer. This included a visit to Keir Mill to pay their respects to Kirkpatrick Macmillan, the inventor of the pedal cycle.

Wednesday 24th February: Healthy muscles for cycling – club member and local Pilates instructor Sally Bensoussis will talk about good muscle health for cycling – including some hints and tips on warm-up, warm-down, identifying imbalances and how to improve things. She will demo a few stretching and strengthening exercises to give us some ideas to use on our own. If you’re feeling brave you could even have a go on the night!

Wednesday 3rd March: Cycling UK from the inside – long time club member Robin Tucker, recently elected Trustee of Cycling UK, will share with us some of his insights into Cycling UK from the inside.

I look forward to seeing many of you on these calls.

Happy cycling!

John
