Isis Cyclists: three November rides

Posted on November 2nd, 2010

Isis Cyclist are a thriving informal group of women cyclists, regularly riding in and around Oxford. They have extended this invitation to women cyclists from CTC Wantage:

Hello there, and here are details of three rides in November, with the first one this coming Saturday. Autumn rides are lovely, if you wrap up warm, so please join us out on the bike this month!

Saturday 6 November 2010: a short ride through Beckley
Meet at Café Noir in Headington (on the corner of Osler and London Roads) at 9.45am for a 10am departure, venturing out beyond the ring-road in a north-easterly direction for a slow and gentle ride, mostly on quiet country roads. We will make our way to Beckley to admire expansive views over Otmoor before meandering back towards Oxford for coffee at the Victoria Arms in Old Marston next to the Cherwell River. The ride leader will be Lucy Wright.

Saturday 20 November 2010: a long ride to Lower Heyford
Meet outside M&S in Summertown at 9.45am for a prompt 10am departure. The ride will head north around the eastern edge of Kidlington and on through Hampton Poyle, Bletchingdon and Kirtlington before stopping at Kizzies Bistro by the canal in Lower Heyford for coffee. The return route will pass through Rousham and Tackley before heading back to Oxford. If the weather is dry, the route will include canal towpath north of Kidlington. The route will be around 23 miles in length, and will include a few short hills. You can make this a shorter ride by taking the train back to Oxford from Heyford (e.g. the 1.15pm train arrives in Oxford at 1.32pm). The ride leader will be Ellen Lee.

Sunday 28 November 2010: a mixed social ride out to Common Leys Farm
Today we welcome male friends and partners to join us on this mixed social ride to Common Leys Farm at Waterperry Common. We will meet outside the Regal on Cowley Road, East Oxford, at 10.15am for a 10.30am start (well, it is Sunday after all!) and head out in the direction of Wheatley, stopping at Common Leys Farm for well-earned refreshments, and returning to Oxford via Elsfield and Marston. The ride will be around 20 miles in length, and it will be taken at a leisurely pace. The ride leader will be Amanda Wrigley.

Please pump up tyres before setting out and carry a spare inner tube for your particular size of wheel in case of punctures (which the organizers might be able to help to fix).

Please email isiscyclistsctc@gmail.com with any questions.

We look forward to seeing you out on the bike soon!
