Tuesday Evening 3* Ride | 3* |
---|
Leader:Katherine Boyce |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Weekly 1.5 - 2 hours at a riding pace of 20-24km/h (13-15mph). May be hilly. Okay its club night and there's been a lot of hills lately on Tuesday evenings, so tonight should be a treat for hill haters! Very standard route, out to Frilford, hopefully missing all the roadworks happening in the Hanney Area, then popping over the A420 to Fyfield and the back roads to Hinton Waldrist before recrossing the A420 and eventually going down Park Lane and on to the Fox, where I'll be stopping but there are usually a group going back to Old Mill Hall.Optional stop at The Fox in Denchworth at the end of the ride. |

Jon took those wanting a more 3* lite pace, which was great for those who had been wondering if the ride was for them. With the wind at our backs we were soon at the A338 at Garford where we split into more car friendly groups before regrouping on the back road to Fyfield. Chris, ever the gentleman, had taken the lead on the A415 ensuring that the headwind was not an issue . Great patience was needed to cross the A420-unbelievable amounts of traffic . With plenty of checks to ensure the higher than normal pace wasn't an issue for anyone we were soon back at the A420 and on to Stanford-in-the-Vale. A bit of coaching on keeping a line during a group ride and we were on to Park Lane. Been a while since I've been down there and it is much improved. We said goodbye to those going straight back to Grove and joined the queue for food and drink at the Fox. Usual chef was on holiday so we had a bit more of a wait than normal. The second 3* group weren't far behind and were happy at their excellently led ride. It was lovely to welcome Mia on her first ride with the club and to see old faces out for club night. Special thanks to Jon for rescuing the ride and to Karen and Andy for sweeping both rides so well. | ||
