Description:Weekly 1.5 hour rides at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly. Thought we could take the alternative route up Hackpen. After wending our way through the Letcombes, we'll turn left at Childrey Hollow to pick up the quieter road to Hackpen Hill. Once regrouped at the top, we'll have a glorious downhill before having a relatively flat return. I am a slow hill climber but hopefully you won't have too long a wait at the top of the hills. |

Clear, not too hot and no rain! Our intrepid group set off for the hills of the Vale, welcoming Simon on his first ride with the club. With Wantage traversed, we all made short work of Holborn Hill.Everyone was in the right gear for the left turn out of Childrey Hollow and onwards along the Springline to Hackpen. John T raced to the top to record the moment - for many it was the first time up Hackpen from Sparsholt way. Then the glorious descent down Hackpen, into Childrey and a regrouping by the pond. We waved to the 3* group as we made our way to Kingston Lisle and through the road closed signs. Everyone's bikes coped well with the large tracts of unmade road  With the evening drawing to a close, we picked up the pace to arrive back at Old Mill Hall slightly later than usual. A more challenging than normal 2* ride that everyone seemed to enjoy. Thanks to Des for sweeping. | ||
