3* Saturday Half Day Ride - Lambourn Woodlands | 3* |
---|
Leader:Nick Stokell |
Start Time:9:00 am |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Half day ride (60-70km / 38-45 miles), with a tea stop, riding pace of 20-24km/h (13-15mph). Likely to visit distant destinations. Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing likely. Please note slightly earlier start at 0900 (as I'm off on holiday pm). Planning to be back around 1300, say 1330 at the latest. This ride reaches down to visit the small country lanes around the Lambourn Woodlands area just South of the M4. The climbs are all on very quiet roads and we'll re-group at the top of each one. After a coffee stop at Honesty in Lambourn we'll take the scenic route back up Sheep-drove. |

It was also not too warm which helped us climb up to the Ridgeway from Sparsholt without too much pain. The climb up from Eastbury was new to a few and the roads South of Ermine Street were delightfully quiet if a little gravelly. Millionaire's shortcake proved popular at Honesty at Lambourn, which was quiet and efficient. Sheepdrove provided a car-free route back up to the top of Hackpen Hill. A red kite has been attacking runners on the road down to Letcombe Bassett recently but happily left us alone. Thanks everyone for a lovely relaxed start to my holiday week, and well done to David and Ursula for converting it into 100 km. | ||
