Description:Half day ride (60-70km / 38-45 miles), with a cafe stop, riding pace of 20-24km/h (13-15mph). Likely to visit distant destinations. Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing likely.A local(ish) route. Winding our way through the Vale to Ashbury before tackling Ashbury Hill. Bit if a climb I know, but hopefully we will then be rewarded by a wonderful downhill section. We will continue all the way to Great Shefford (via a cafe stop at Priscillas Kitchen in East Garston) before winding our way back. About 60k in all Please let me know if you plan to join |

Report:Despite the rain overnight the weather was kind to us. Not only was it dry but we saw a fair amount of sun. The wind was behind us for the climb of Ashbury Hill (still tough!) but more crucially it made for the splendid ride down the other side. It felt like we hardly had to pedal from the Ridgeway to Priscilla's Kitchen in East Garston.The coffee and food at the cafe were excellent which was a good job, as we then had to climb back over to Wantage - this time with the wind against us. We all tackled the hill with relish and I think we were all generally pleased with our climbing given that it is still early in the season. The whizz down Chain Hill was marred slightly by a irresponsible driver - but the other drivers were generally very courteous. We all went off in different directions at the outskirts of Wantage, being home in time for lunch. A great group to lead and a splendid way to spend a Saturday Morning. | ||
