Description:As a courtesy to the ride leader, we ask that you pre-book for this ride. All-day touring ride (80-100km / 50-65 miles), lunch and possibly tea stop en route, at a riding pace of 18-22km/h (11-14mph). Not suitable for irregular riders. Climbing almost inevitable. This is a pre-bookable ride. To book a place, text your name to the ride leader no earlier than 9:00am on the Sunday before the ride. You will receive confirmation or be advised that the ride is fully booked. A reserve list will be maintained.I am keen to try out a new route - over to Botley, a favourite cut-through to Port Meadow and then up the Oxford Canal on a newly improved towpath surface to Yarnton, followed by a traffic-free lane to Eynsham via Cassington. From there we take the lovely road to Witney via South Leigh - lunch stop at Cogges Farm. We then head for Aston and Faringdon before heading home across the Vale. 60 miles / 96km. |

Report:We were blessed with some amazing weather - not expecting to be in shorts at the end of October! It was also a great group which stayed together well. I was pleased with this route - particularly liked the stretch along the Oxford Canal north of Wolvercote. It is a really interesting little corner of the countryside as the canal, the railway and various major trunk routes like the A40 weave across each other. We enjoyed watching a couple in a canal boat navigate a slightly dodgy swing bridge (see photo).Lunch at Cogges Farm was really good and we decided to head for home without a second stop (despite passing tempting cafe options in Aston, Bampton, Clanfield and Faringdon). Thanks to all for a really fun day out. | ||
