Description:A return visit to the Letcombes, returning via Childrey, the bridleway to West Challow and Denchworth (12.5 niles).Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Our leisurely and sociable Tuesday evening 1* rides are designed specifically with adult newcomers to cycling and youngsters in mind, or those who just want some relaxed and sociable exercise. We cover a distance of 10-15 miles (16-24km) at a gentle pace of 8-10 mph (13-16kph), following quiet country lanes and the occasional easy off-road track. We stop regularly to catch our breath, to take in the views and anything that takes our interest along the way. |

A warm welcome to Lily on her first Tuesday Evening ride. We could see dark clouds looming to the West as we headed into Wantage, but we managed to skirt them and apart from the odd spot, we stayed dry through the Letcombes. Everyone climbed Holborn Hill with aplomb and we regrouped at the top to take in the views.We just caught the edge of a shower as we joined the B-road to descend into Childrey - always fun. We then took the bridleway down to West Challow, which was new to several riders. The A417 was relatively quiet as we headed towards the Denchworth turning but at this point light rain swept in and stayed with us for the rest of the ride. So there was no stopping at the top of the Circourt Road railway bridge to take in the view of the Downs. Back in Grove at 8:20 after an enjoyable ride despite the damp.
