Description:Cycling UK Wantage marks its 30th Anniversary with a special afternoon of rides, at various levels, all culminating in a celebratory tea and cake stop at Uffington village hall. Both current and past members (and friends) of the club are very welcome to join us.This is the special easy, 1* ride, cycling out to join other club members at the anniversary tea. We'll be covering about 21 miles at an easy pace pace of 8 to 10 mph with frequent stops. Route out via Charney Bassett, Hatford, Shellingford and Fernham then on to Uffington to be first for the cakes! We will return to Grove via Baulking, Goosey and Denchworth. If you are planning to come on the ride, please can we ask you to complete a quick registration here: registration link, so that we have a reasonable feel for the numbers on the ride and for catering at Uffington. |

Riders:Alan FisherAngie Fisher Anke Otto Carin Tranter Diana Whidborne John Stamp Lorna Swanton Martyn Wigmore Nick Portsmouth Riders = 9 Report:We were a little worried that the weather was going to be rather rainy for this ride, but it stayed fine almost all the ride. We had a good turn out, including two new people Alan and Angie - a big welcome to them. We split into two groups with Lorna leading the second group.We set off up to Denchworth, Charney and to Gainfield. We turned left at the crossroads and carried on through Hatford until we reached the main road (A417) where we crossed over through Shellingford and along almost to Fernham, where we turned off to Uffington. We stopped soon after this turn to look at the good view of the White Horse. It was downhill to Uffington and tea and cake at the village hall. A wonderful spread put on by Chris Higgs and a welcome cup of tea. We all had a good chat and catch up with friends old and new. We returned in two groups again with some additions from other rides. We came back via Baulking and Goosey to Grove. A fantastic anniversary ride and my thanks to Lorna for assisting with the leading. | ||
