Description:Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Half day ride (60-70km / 38-45 miles), with a tea stop, riding pace of 20-24km/h (13-15mph). Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time for the ride leaders briefing and a prompt start to the ride.From Wantage we’ll head south into Berkshire covering the area around Beedon, Hampstead Norrey’s to Hermitage via the Eling Way & Snelsmore Common. Tea stop at The Boxford. Once refreshed we’ll return to Wantage via Leckhampstead & Chain Hill. Expect to be back in Wantage for 13:30pm. Ride distance 43miles/69km. |

We had full sun & blue skies, unfortunately we had an easterly nagging headwind for quite a bit of the ride, though we were rewarded with some beautiful views throughout the ride. Plenty of wildlife was spotted including brown hare, red kites and a herd of deer. Traffic was incredibly light and drivers were courteous. The Boxford was a good cafe stop serving teas, coffees & fresh pastries. Staff were very welcoming & polite providing efficient table service. Everyone seemed to enjoy the route which is always a bonus. Many thanks to Jo for secondary leading when required and to everyone for making this a lovely ride. | ||
