Report:
A shower at 1:45 may have deterred some riders but 17 was a manageable number! We waited 20 minutes for the rain to pass before setting off, but after that it was dry though not the warmest summer's afternoon.
Our route was through Charney Bassett to Southmoor and back via West Hanney about 20 miles. An excursion through the villages of Hinton Waldrist and Longworth proved to be a novelty to even our regular riders. The bridleway between the two provided the first stretch of club off-road since the start of the Foot & mouth crisis in February. We came back via the Hanney to Denchworth bridleway too.
The ride took us just under three hours, with a relaxed ice cream stop at Southmoor.
We were pleased to welcome Ali, who hadn't cycled such a distance for a few years and Glen's son Gary (8) (who seems to like his off-road, if his predilection for cycling along the road margin is anything to go by!) It was good to have Angela out with us again too.
