Passing through Appleton & Longworth before recrossing the A420 onto the Charney Road from where it all becomes routine.Aiming to bed in good group riding habits of consistent pacing & clear communication (holes/obstructions/turns/mechanicals etc). Riders:Andy CowanFrank Schroer Jason Jones Nick Stokell Paul Jarvis Peter Cowan Phil Stubbings Phil Ward Riders = 8 Weather:Report:Rough Traders: Bouncing over mud-ball strewn lanes, pock marked with some monstrous holes and gullies made negotiating our outward leg to Garford quite challenging. All survived intact, avoiding 'The Fall'. We spun happily through Cothill and Dry Sandford looking in vain for 'Blue Orchids' before turning straight into the lowering sun towards Besselsleigh. The top turn at Eaton left us a glorious long downwind and downhill easy all the way through Longworth where bizarrely amongst other topics, bands of the 80s were discussed. A comfort break enabled 'This Charming Man' to set us off on the fast swoop through Charney in fine style & once over Denchworth railway bridge the sandbagging ended and 'Inflammable Material' in the form of 3 whippets were unleashed on "The Dash" - I am told Mr Jones emerged triumphant. Chapeau Sir! We made it back to OMH in rapidly cooling evening light at 8:05, highly satisfied with 42.7 km in 1hr 30. Thanks Gents, a very convivial evening awheel. | ||
