Tuesday Evening 4* Ride | 4* |
---|
Leader:Phil Ward |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Weekly 1.5-2 hours ride at a riding pace of 25-29km/h (16-18mph). May be hilly. With evenings drawing in, we are cutting back a tad on the distance now. Heading South West with a few different rises to loop via Lambourn & Eastbury. Seven Barrows leads to the infamous STOP at the bottom of Blowingstone Hill. Then taking a familiar flat route back via Kingston Lisle, Goosey & Denchworth.Lights please folks - we should be in before sunset, but if gloomy rear lights especially recommended. |

Riders:Andy CowanJason Jones Nick Stokell Paul Jarvis Peter Cowan Phil Ward Riders = 6 Weather:Report:Helios was evidently smiling down on us and the harvesters as five set out South-bound in perfect riding conditions. Smaller grades warmed us up for the Sparsholt - Seven Acre Hill climb, a far tastier ascent than Hackpen in my opinion. Oblique sunlight made descending to Lambourn a delight. As we began the Eastbury loop " Hail fellow, well met!" Pete (fresh from Lakeland pass-storming) was spotted U-turning having plotted a perfect intersection course and we became six. The quiet delights of Haycroft Hill proved a welcome novelty, trimmed off with a touch of Ermine (Street). Rattling back into Lambourn to begin Seven Barrows, the dew was starting to fall across the gallops and lights were lit atop Blowingstone. Mellow conversational pace from Kingston Lisle through to Denchworth, whereupon the friskier dogs had almost too many rabbits to chase (thanks 2* riders ) in a frolic along "the dash".What a fabulous evening, thanks all - totally chilled after my last scheduled lead of this season. For the number crunchers: a lumpy 53km in 1h 57' (27kph/16.8mph) | ||

I see you are in fine fettle on the report writing front again! If there were a club award for report writing, you would surely lift it! I can't do the pace but at least I can enjoy the reports :) |
