Description:The idea behind this mini series of rides is to provide confident 2* riders with a taste of 3* routes and riding.We will ride the route of a 3* Tuesday evening ride, one incorporating hill(s), but riding at the bottom of the 3* pace range. We'll then stop for a coffee and a chat at the end of the ride. *Note - Start Venue is WMP* For the last in the mini-series it has to be Chain Hill - my nemesis! So, no hanging about - up Chain Hill, across to West Ilsley, Brightwalton then back to Wantage via Manor Road, Court Hill and Mill Street. |

Lesson learned - check start time of ride!The band of riders waiting at Alfred's feet were remarkably kind as was Des, who we met at the top of Chain Hill. Sorry everyone  Given 2 of our group had never ascended Chain Hill before, they did it brilliantly, and despite a few gear glitches, we were soon freewheeling down the other side. At Catmore, a quick stop for a breather turned into a rather longer wait as a procession of motorcycles came streaming past. This led to a fair amount of confusion at the next junction and a minor adjustment to the route to avoid some of the A338, which they might have been travelling on. Descending to the monument at Woolley, we passed the feed station for a mountain bike event, through managed to avoid the predicted 700 MTBers coming our way. We made short work of the climb back up the Ridgeway, particularly Nick on his shiny new bike, then a lovely swoop down Court Hill and back into Wantage. Everyone stopped for refreshments at the Bay tree Cafe which was a fitting end to an enjoyable ride. Thanks everyone. | ||

- 4* - Suitable for athletic riders who can ride safely above the 3* standard. Quick rides for the fit.
