1* Saturday Half Day Ride | 1* |
---|
Leader:Steve Boreham |
Start Time:2:00 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Plan to ride out to Ardington….to include a picnic stop. Original plan to take a bit of a circuitous route via Denchworth, West Challow and Childrey before East Challow, and a cunning back route in Wantage to route 44 to Lockinge. Picnic stop at Ardington (bring your own refreshments 😎 and saves worrying about cafe opening times) and to locate those Millennium Stones. Plus, the weather will be great (😮) won’t it?Planned total of 18 to 20 miles……ish Our regular social and family ride on the third Saturday of the month, usually with a cafe stop. We cover 16-32km (10-20 miles) at a leisurely pace of 13-16km/h (8-10mph), tackling the occasional hill (nothing too long) and easy off-road track (conditions permitting). Please let the ride leader know if you are planning to come. |

Di brought her granddaughter - Bessy - along for the ride so, in case the original distance was too far for her, quick conflab at the start and decided to eschew the initial "circuitous" route, to then not have too far before the picnic stop. Therefore we went across to East Challow, and then continued on the original planned route. Lovely leisure picnic on the grass by the wood with the "Millennium Stones. Weather glorious so was an extra long "tea" stop. Steve S then left us to get back earlier, and many took the opportunity to walk in to the woods to see more of the stones. Adjusted the route back so we went via Wantage - cutting through one of the new estates - and some then went directly home. In consequence, the ride was shorter than planned., but a lovely afternoon. Well done to Bessy!, doing very well with the ride. Warm welcome to Huw on his second ride with us. Thanks to all for a nice relaxed ride. | ||
