Tuesday Evening 2* Ride | 2* |
---|
Leader:Katherine Boyce |
Start Time:6:30 pm |
Start Location:OMH |
Description:Weekly 1.5 hour rides at a riding pace of 18-20km/h (11-13mph). Not likely to be very hilly. Thought we'd pop out to Faringdon this evening. After last weeks climbs, the little hills in the middle will be a doddle . We'll go out via Baulking and back via a short stretch of the A417 and Hatford and Charney. It's the time of year when you'll need to bring lights in case of any hold ups |

Warm, sunny and virtually no wind. And what a lovely group to lead, doesn't get much better than this!As would be expected at this end of the season, we were able to keep a good pace up, with few stops. Which was useful as we went out to Faringdon. Everyone made sure that on stretches with lots of traffic, good gaps were kept for the motorists. Even the motorists were outstanding - can't remember another ride where there were nothing but patient motorists and no incidents that caused me to swear . Everyone gave Fernham hill short shrift and we regrouped before tackling the A420. Once safely over, Des led us through the back streets of Faringdon, we were treated to a rideby Des's childhood home and scenes of some of his earliest cycling adventures . The artic lories at the A420/417 politely allowed us safe passage to reach the A417. Adrian and Des peeled off at the Shellingford turn, those that tried to follow them luckily realised their error before turning - phew! Then it was back across the Vale, before being overtaken by the 4*s just before Grove. None of us took the opportunity to slip stream them . We had obviously got our timings right for the time of year as the 2, 3 and 4* rides all completed within a few minutes of each other. Thanks to Jon, Karen and Richard for doing sterling work as backmarkers. A ride as perfect as the weather, thanks all | ||
