We welcomed John's friend Charlie Schmidt from Zimbabwe as a visitor. We set off to climb the first hill after about a mile (Ringdale) then we had a quick look at the pig with glasses on top of a thatched cottage in Little Coxwell. We then crossed the A420 to Great Coxwell to look at the The Tithe Barn. We then climbed up our second climb The Holloway and had a great descent to coffee and cake at Coleshill. We crossed the border into Wiltshire and went up our 3rd climb up to Fresden and onto another short climb to Shrivenham (back into Oxon). We took the long way round (due to road closure) to look up right under Westmill wind turbines. We then had quite a short journey back to Longcot where everyone had a drink at my house. No incidents at all to report. The ride was 20 miles from my house and back but as most had ridden from Grove or Wantage to start and finish, the ride was more like 40 miles for them. Well done one and all, definitely the hardest and longest Thursday ride this year. | ||
