Regular Saturday ride from Grove

Description:
An eastward loop this Saturday via the Hanneys and Steventon to Appleford and then on NCN route 5 into Didcot. Back via West Hagbourne and Chilton to Ginge via route NCN route 44 (or optionally on road),with a late tea stop at Ardington Post Office. Potential for an optional loop further east to South Moreton & Aston Tirrold for those wanting a longer/faster ride. Lights required for the ride home from tea.

Report:
Left Grove at 13:10. There were some problems keeping the group together as some could not maintain more than 11-12mph whereas the speed of those at the front tended to creep upwards. Probably in future it would be best to keep the slower ones nearer the front.

As planned we used the Moors ditch cycleway between Appleford and Didcot. This was adequately metalled for most road bikes. Steve led us through Didcot and towards Upton on the Harwell cycleway. Again this was metalled with only a short bit of gravel track linking it to Upton village.

To arrive at the cafe on time we took the main road from Upton to Ardington arriving at 15:35. Which just goes to prove that we could have done the full route.
