Description:A ride out to the Grocers Chef at Ardington for Coffee, via Childrey and Letcombe . There are a couple of sections on path to Childrey and also to Ardington.Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Sociable ride of 24-40 km (15-25 miles) at a pace of 18-20km/h (11-13 mph). |

With 9 riders starting out we headed to Denchworth, where we stopped briefly to catch our breath at which point Patrick explained that his e bike was not charging and he would be leaving the ride. We then continued to West Hanney via a brief stretch on the A417. As we approached the pathto Childrey we met a family with 2 dogs just leaving the path and had a clear run into Childrey where we were greeted by 2 horses,( and riders) our timing couldnt have been better!It was then time for the hill of the day which was not helped by the headwind, so we tackled it at our own pace regrouping at the foot of Hackpen Hill. We then enjoyed the descent into Letcombe Basstett and a brief tail wind as we left towards Letcombe Regis and onto Wantage. Avoiding the main road as much as possible we went via Locks Lane, Portway and then along Trinder road and Springfield road to the path into Lockinge. Our planned route to Ginge was not possible due to road closures and so we skirted back to Ardington for an early and leisurely coffee, and were greeted by Patrick! A pleasant social with coffee and cake was welcome after the winds and hills. As we finished, the active travel group descended on the cafe led by John Tranter!. We then made our way back to OMH via Laines Barn. Roger David and Mike all opted to make their own way home from the cafe. A lovely morning thanks all for your company. | ||
