Daytime 1* Thursday Ride 1*
Leader:
John Tranter

10:00 am
Start Location:
OMH

Please pre-book for this ride by contacting the ride leader. Easy sociable ride of 24-32 km (15-20 miles) at a pace of 14-17km/h (9-11 mph).

A ride out to Appleton to enjoy the hospitality of their Community Shop. Taking a slightly longer route in order to experience the Tubney tunnel under the A420 - well worth it!

Weather:
sunny intervalslight rain showers
Report:
A slightly dodgy weather forecast and a few spots of rain at the start failed to deter a great group, some drawn by their first time experiencing the delights of the Tubney tunnel. We had a few drizzly moments, but overall the weather was kind to us.

This was a slightly A420-focussed ride, with four crossings in total, but we were using the best options and the traffic wasn't too bad, so all was well. Appleton Community Shop looked after us extremely well and the umbrella over the seating gave welcome shelter from a brief dizzy moment. A bit of a headwind back, but everyone coped well.

In summary: 1* pace, 2* distance and 3* headwind!

Thanks to everyone for a fun ride.

Lovely to be out on a club ride after a short break, and super to have a great group. A calm warm morning welcomed us and a fine drizzle to keep us cool came on as we rode through Charney. never one to be deterred and convinced that we would all be dry by coffee we continued through Littleworth and on to Faringdon for coffee.(apart from Louise who opted to return to Stanford).
As always we were welcomed at the coffee shop and enjoyed a very leisurely break. We then returned via the normal route of Folly road, A417 to Hatford, then on to Charney and home via Denchworth. A lovely morning with good company.
