Edith set off apace and the group split into two, not to be re-united until tea! However, Brian had been busy distributing route sheets before the start, so everyone knew where they were going -West Hanney, Frilford, Tubney, Longworth, Southmoor and back to Grove via Charney Bassett & Goosey. Then to the cornerstone cafe in Grove for tea before dark.Brians version: I (Brian) led sixteen Section members on a local "under a tunnel and over a bridge" ride. The mornings rain had failed to dampen spirits, hence the "turnout," but the afternoon was dry, bright and mild. I had provided route sheets, which were distributed, to key Section members in the group. This proved not to be a foolproof solution. The Section set off and quickly spread out, highlighting differing abilities. Edith was in front and set a brisk pace, which made the Section grumble. I was doing fairly well, but then outside West Hanney my bicycle front tyre punctured. By the time the tube was changed I had some catching up to do. Robert kindly stopped with me, but then charged a head to turn into Millets. This was not the tea stop and I wasted more time extracting him. Meanwhile Edith had missed the bridge turn in Longworth. Fortunately the Section was more awake and the situation was quickly resolved. The Section started to join together again upon returning to Grove. However less than half a mile from the tea stop the Section turned left instead of right. Local knowledge must be poor. The Section members marching in disturbed the calm peaceful atmosphere of the church caf

It was good to welcome Trevor and Graham and to see Neil L. again. We followed the foot of the Downs via Childrey, Sparsholt and Westcot to White Horse Hill and then most changed into bottom gear for the steep climb over the top. Then it was down into the car park for well-deserved mince pies and mulled wine. West Oxon soon arrived followed by a lone Alistair from Abingdon and three cyclists from Didcot. 40 in all turned up and
