Report:
As promised two rides, one slower (9 riders) and one faster (4 riders) set off from Grove, but in opposite direction. The faster ride was strongly lead out by Pat into a punishing headwind, whilst Richard lead the shorter route. The longer ride made it way to Wantage, onto Sevehampton. The rough track leading to the tea stop at Roves Farm (Nr. Highworth) took its toll and resulted in the first and only puncture of the day where the groups were reunited for well-earned rest. Much excellent chocolate cake was devoured before the two groups again split for a fun ride back with the tail wind resulting in an even faster ride. Aided by the wind, Pat on his single speed bike even managed to summit first the hill at Coleshill. Once the slower group had been sighted, the faster group rapidly closed-in and over took to arrive back at Grove just before the promised rain arrived. Although Pat still had 3 riders with him he had swapped one Steve for the other !! Eve then continued back to Abingdon, just to put some of us to shame.

Report:
Five set off for this meander through the Gloucestershire and North Wilts Countryside. Mostly flat route along very quiet lanes, we just needed some sunshine to brighten things up. Tea at Malmesbury in "Amanda's" who does a mega latte. (Excellent stop but a bit small, dont try with more than 7 or 8). Finsihed just after 5 having done 48Km and no-one got wet. (Ed, having ridden there, then set off to ride home!)

Report:
A great start to this year's Tuesday rides with 21 riders congregating on a sunny spring evening. We welcomed back a number of Tuesday evening regulars and newcomers Denise, Katie, Nick and Doug.
A leisurely pace to start with to Hanney where 14 riders elected to join Kevin for the faster ride - they had been warned. The select group of leisurely riders continued on Winter lane to the Lyford/Garford crossroads and turned left to Charney, while the fast group continued to the next junction. As we left Charney heading back to Grove we were overtaken by Kevin with 6 or 7 riders in tow, the rest following a few hundred yards behind. The fast group turned off towards Goosey and Asti Stud (having regrouped) while we continued directly back via Denchworth only to be caught again by the faster riders as we reached Grove. A few red faces and deep breaths at the end, but everyone seemed to enjoy it and left saying 'see you next week'. 11 or 15 miles.

Two of us rode, the rest had far more sense and organised. A rainy start that only got worse, I last saw Ginny accelerating out of Somerton, only to be told that she passed through the 110K control an hour before me. At that point I could no longer feel my feet, and discovering Jan had the foresight to put her bike rack in the car, I took the easy way out.

(Im sure its) An excellent ride (in the summer!)

Report:
Hottest day of the year so far but there were only 5 of us. However we
were rewarded with tracks which were drier than expected and therefore
the going was easier. After a warm-up climb up Castle Hill (for a
change!) we headed S past Parsonagehill Barn then left towards Washmore
Hill. Stopped for a breather there and watched a Red Kite wheel lazily
overhead before plunging down the rutted track to Eastbury Grange. The
climb up to Eastbury Down was surprisingly dry. After turning right we
headed up past Ewe Hill and Sheepdrove Farm (route chosen for sticky
conditions!) to arrive at the Ridgeway about 45 minutes earlier than
anticipated. So rather than descending Hackpen Hill and the track which
continues on to Letcombe we headed off E to cross the B4494 where
Martyn left us. We raced down the field to the gate then on to Lockinge. Not
even a puncture to mar a beautiful afternoon.

A chilly evening but at least it was dry. The whole ride left Grove to cycle through Denchworth and Charney Basset where we split up with the fast ride going speedily off to Gainsfield and Hatford. The slower ride carried on to Stanford in the vale from Gainsfield, a short trip down the A417 and then back through Park Lane to Denchworth and Grove. The fast ride returned to Grove some 10 to 15 mins later. A warm welcome to Liz Taylor, Dave McLellan and Ann Lonie.
