Great day out apart from the wind all the way to Towcester. Jan, Pat and Kev rode, although Jan didnt last long, and Mavis, Sue and Laurent manned a control at Evesham.

I think Laurent actually cycled further than anyone, riding from Stanford in the Vale to Charlbury for the start, then on to Evesham for control duty, accompanying the last rider back to Charlbury then riding home!

Some new faces and some who have not been seen for a while turned up for the back on yer bike ride. We had a gentle ride out to Southmoor, but Gary decided that he would take his Dad home early, so by the time we reached Southmoor we were down to 21. Hope you both got home ok!!

The return through Standford in the Vale took advantage of the Road being closed for a new sewer, we all ended up cycling on the A417 on the wrong side and it felt very strange.

There were many promises of joining on the Tuesday, so lets hope for great summer.

Riders:
Jan McCabe
Kevin Fairs

Report:
A difficult day with far too much gravity, although Jan found the 100 easy! Any one of the umpteen climbs would have made a great day out.

Pat and Laurent finished with moments to spare, having also completed the Hard Boiled 300 the previous day, and cycling to the event from Bournmouth. They have now qualified for immediate and urgent psychiatric help.

Report:
The ride started with a detour to Steve B's, as, much to everyone else's amusement, Steve had turned up wear cycling kit & his best office shoes! The route went to Lockinge, up beside the gallops to the Ridgeway, along a bit, before dropping down though spectacular bluebell carpeted woods, round to West Isley, then back up and over the Ridgeway. We stopped on the way for communal puncture mending when 3 of us simultaneously got flat tyres, before descending to Chilton Garden centre.
After refreshment we used the underpasses to cross the A34 and back again, and took the tracks in a straight line back to Wantage. Derek unfortunately got stuck in a rut, and fell off into the barbed wire, which gave Steve the opportunity to use his first aid kit. The rest of the ride was uneventful, with Steve B demonstrating suspension isn't necessary to ride down Ginge brook, and thanks to Steve S, for showing us some interesting back lanes in Wantage itself.

A very wet night but with eleven riders we completed 22 miles around the vale at a very fast speed, which was complained about by regular riders but welcomed by by more recent members of our group.we attempted to climb common hill up into Kingston Lisle but was beaten by an inpromtu ford under the railway bridge at the bottom and was forced to return home via Goosey and Denchworth. We arrived home very wet and my feet Had turned black with the dye from my very soggy shoes.
