40 riders in all turned out to either ride the event or look on while James did all the paper work! Results to follow-

30 riders took part, with the honours in the shorter event being split between Elaine (from the City section), The Hornbrey family, and the Tucker family.
The longer event was won by Steve Swanton (who got a magnificent score of 104% thanks to bonus marks being awarded!) and second place was shared between Brian/Edith and Jan

Many Thanks to James for organising a very enjoyable event

It was hot! The hottest day of the year so far. Those of us who set off from Wantage were grateful to get the worst hill of the day (Hackpen) out of the way in the cool of the morning. One downside was the clouds of flies skimming the hedges along the B-road

Report:
Confusion at the start as no-one knew who was meant to be leading. So Edith suggested a ride out to the Letcombes and back via Childrey and West Challow to use the new railway bridge by Circourt Farm on the Denchworth Road. Someone else suggested climbing Hackpen Hill as a longer option. Agreed.
Off we set on a gorgeous evening. Alas, due to hold-ups through Wantage, no-one checking on following riders and not stopping to regroup, the group became split and several riders passed the Letcombe turning and continued up the hill

Report:
Thunderstorms had been promised all day, but didn't arrive until 6:30, we sheltered under the cover of the shops in Grove for a while, and after a few minutes decided that the rain didn't look to heavy, and we'd go for a ride, but we decided to defer the plan of going to Brightwalton - and just go for a spin around the vale (Denchworth, Hanney, Southmoor and back via Charney). Whilst it rained most of the time, it wasn't to heavy and the temperature was warm, it was only as we got back to Grove that we got instantaneous thunder and lightening and we were back sheltering by the shops when the torrential rain arrived - perfect timing!! (and my cycle home from grove was wonderful)
