Section Pub Night

Riders: Des Higgs Diane Stuckey Henk Altmann (deceased) Jan McCabe Kevin Fairs Nigel Stuckey Richard Divall Riders = 7 Report: The unpleasant weather meant a restricted attendance, and only three riders accompanied Diane from Grove, through the frost and fog to West Hanney, via Denchworth, Charney Bassett, Southmoor and Gallows Bridge. A few cheats came by car, but Des arrived in proper fashion well in time for the grub. The Lamb Inn, under new management and staffed by an interesting Berber barman (check it out!) has an equally interesting new menu. Food of high quality, but quantity not challenging enough for some of the section

Regular Wantage Ride

Description: Note new start time of 9:30am Please arrive a few minutes early so we can leave promptly at 9:30! A full day ride of 80 to 100km, including a pub stop for lunch
Riders: Derek Boutle Des Higgs Ginny Henderson Jan McCabe Richard Divall Riders = 5 Report: Not sure if it was the new 9:30 start time, the sub-zero temperatures or closeness to Xmas that meant the numbers were low, but the 5 of us who cycled enjoyed glorious clear skies and great views as we cycled over to Lambourn and onwards via Ramsbury to Lunch at The Bear in Marlborough. The combination of a small group and fairly short distance meant we arrived early at Lunch, the pub wasn't officially open, but they allowed us in to warm up, for 10 minutes, before they delared themselves open at 12 and took our orders, the burgers and baked potatos were the normal high standard, and Richard checked the puddings and appeared to enjoy a large slice of chocolate cake. Kevin & Wen hadn't been able to cycle, but joined us for lunch, it was a good tactic on Kevin's part, as all 5 of the cyclists ordered new overshoes from him at the lunch stop!! The ride back took us via Aldbourne & Baydon (where Des & Derek departed) and back via Lambourn and over Sheepdrove to return to Wantage at about 3:45pm Jan
