Report:
A gorgeous day saw a record turnout for a Wantage event. 27 rode from Wantage (in two groups)and we were joined on route by 3 from Lambourn and others on the climb of White Horse Hill. We welcomed newcomer John plus Stuart, Tony and David on their yearly Mince pie visit and it was good to see Gesine on a weekend visit from Sussex.
The route took us through the Letcombes for a warm-up on Holborn Hill before descending into Childrey to follow the lower road through the spiringline villages to Westcot. Running late, it was decided not to descend to Uffington but to continue straight to White Horse Hill.
Nick and Ginny led the first group 'over the top' and the car park was already busy with cyclists on our arrival. Swindon section (joining us for the first time)had arrived soon after Diane and Nigel, who brought all the goodies. Excellent mulled wine and mince pies were consumed amid lively conversation in the warm winter sunshine. For once the brazier went almost unnoticed.
Almost too soon, it was time to continue to The True Heart for lunch. The pub coped admirably with 40 of us, and the meal was, as usual, excellent.
It rained during lunch and for the first few miles of the return, but fortunately our route through the Vale (via Bourton, Shrivenham and Fernham) seemed to take us out of the weather and back into the sunshine. With West Oxon and other riders peeling off at various points along the way it was a small band that returned to Diane and Nigel's to help polish off the mulled wine.
Overall, at least 75 participated and we raised

Report:
Despite earlier forecasts of snow and/or gale force winds, the weather was OK, and seven of us left the Market Place, and took the direct route to Lambourn, where Diane and Eve left us, and Pat, Mavis and Sue joined, we continued over to Ramsbury, and through Axford and Mildenhall to The Bear at Marlborough, where Kev and Wen joined us for lunch (Good portions, reasonable prices). After a brief stretch of A4, we took the lanes, and crossed back over the river to Axford, and took the hilly route back through Aldbourne, and onto Baydon, where Des having pumped up his back tyre, realised he also had a puncture in the front!, as Des and Derek were about to leave the group to take a direct route home, we wished them a merry Christmas, and left them repairing the puncture. We continued to Lambourn, where Pat, Sue and Mavis departed. The remaining three, continued back to Wantage, arriving just before the rain started, having completed 71km and 965m of ascent

Report:
A 30Km loop to West Ilsley via Chaddleworth was planned, but was shortened at every junction due to the foul weather, having started with a blat up Manor after missing out the Letcombes.

Pat and Sue were spyed up ahead in the mist, so Des and Derek were despatched to stop them, but they missed the turns we had planned so we met them again at the pub.

The rest of the group were also unable to see the fun in Chaddleworth, so that Village was missed, as was Stanmore as we made a dash in the rain through Bright Walton and Lilley to the Pub.

The Harrow at West Ilsley was an expensive dissapointment, we were initially only offered sandwiches and burgers, although this did change after some clarification, and the complete lack of heating meant we froze.

Returning the quick way through Farnborough, Pat and Sue continued to Uffington (why?) whilst the rest went home to get warm!
