Evening Ride and Pub Night

Description: Ride with us to The Crown Inn in Shrivenham or meet us there at 20:00 for food & drink. Lights required
Riders: Amanda Seddon David Bridge Derek Boutle Des Higgs Diane Stuckey Jon Seddon Judi Boutle Kevin Fairs Nigel Stuckey Richard Divall Wenfeng Yang Riders = 11 Report: Amanda, Des and David joined me on possibly the coldest night of the week for the evening ride to The Crown in Shrivenham. A prompt start was in order due to the cold and we headed out to Letcombe just after 6.30pm. This was just to get to the warm up climb back up Windmill Hill to the Downs road. Along to Childrey and then a little tour of the villages before rejoining the Downs Road at Westcot. We politely declined Des's request to climb White Horse Hill. Now it was heads down as we continued along the Downs Road to the cross roads at Ashbury. We then took a left down the B4000 to take us straight into Shrivenham where we arrived to a welcome pint bang on 8pm.

Somehow Edith managed to find enough space and chairs to accommodate 21 of us (those on the left plus Rosie). The food was excellent - thanks to all the cooks. Diane won the photo competion on the theme of Coffee, Tea and Cakes with her picture of the tea train while Jan managed to match the most body parts to bikes to win the spot-the-body&bike competition. We turned left by the monument, ascended to Woolley swooped down to the cross-roads and then climbed again up to Brightwalton. There was brief respite as we rolled through the village and down to the B4494 before the steepest of the morning
