Fourteen of us left on a blustery Saturday afternoon for a tour around the lanes, Denchworth, Goosey,Fernham, Shellingford, Hatford, Charney Basset, Southmoor, over the A420, through Fyfield for a well earned drink and cake at Millets Farm.
Steve B, after initially locking his bike, had a change of mind and disappeared early to watch the rugby international. After tea Jane was cursing Steve going early, but leaving her bike locked & taking the key, but eventually Robert couldn't keep a straight face any longer, and removed his chain from Jane's bike!
The Abingdon contingent left after tea, and the rest made there way back via Hanney & Denchworth to Grove.

Report:
Richard led a small group in a large circle of the Vale in the fog and cold. Eve and Dave arrived in the Market Place covered in icicles. We ended up at Steventon Village Hall for mulled wine and a picnic. Some Sections have taken to using pretty tablecloths, napkins and wine, so Wantage definitely is in need of some refining! A few mechanical failures happened: Steve Swanton never even got to the Market Place as his bike suffered a split wheel rim. Steve managed to join us for lunch however. Jane's bag was hanging half off her bike as the plastic screw holding it in place sheared in half; the main thing was though that the bottle of wine in the bag was not lost!

Olivier and Julie joined us for their first ride with the Wantage Section. They have promised to return.

Report:
Four of us started on a very cold Sunday morning, having already had to deal with ice and a bird strike to the bike on the roofrack, which left bits of bird splattered over my ner bike! We decided not to wait for Steve (which was just as well) and we planned to meet Sue in Lambourne. It was so cold and damp that ice formed on our brake levers and cables, and in Jans' hair! We met Sue in Lambourne as she wanted the ride, just didn't want to go to Newbury.

Steve, meanwhile, turned up ten minutes late and cycled furiously to catch us. He probably would have, except that a split tyre and three tubes later convinced him to call home for recovery. We did try phoning him a couple of times, letting it ring just long enough for him to stop the bike and rummage for the phone befor we hung up!

Spring hill was a serious challenge, I made it up but Sue passed me whilst pushing. Just before lunch we hit floods, luckily not as deep as those experienced earlier this year, and the feet dried out in the pub.

Sue left us after the climb up Coombe Gibbet, we the had a fast downhill to Newbury whilst she had more climbs to Lambourne! We arived around 3:30, about 7 hours in all, 30 minutes up on last year.

Report:
We had to change the title of this one to Elephants as Wickham Church, since we could not get access to Welford Manor due to foot and mouth restrictions. We did see snowdrops however, and there really are elephants at Wickham.

Ten of us departed Wantage on a glorious day, to meet the other three at Lambourne. The first mishap of the day was Richard, who managed to go over his handlebars on the way UP Hackpen hill, after his bike objected to the continued lack of attention and the front mudguard met the front wheel. Still, he landed on his head so was OK!

On our return from the church Robins pannier went into his back wheel causing it to buckle, so he had to continue without a functioning rear brake.

Mavis kindly supplied the tea stop, with Pat making a dash to Lambourne for cakes.
