A pleasant ride in classic autumn sunshine. Fairly windy but it stayed dry, I think I might have binned the wet ride curse! It was mild enough to have tea outside at Aston. The lane from Aston to Tadpole Bridge has been resurfaced and is now a v pleasant ride, I wonder how it will survive the next bout of flooding? Good to see people helping less strong riders by sheltering them from the wind, it made it a quicker ride than abandoning them and waiting at corners bitching about the cold. We were all in that position once and were encouraged and helped. Thanks to all who came.

What a fabulous ride this is. Relaxed, pleasant and well organised. Made all the better by pleasant company and glorious weather. I never thought i'd be using aftersun in October! It has to be said I am one of the first to have a go about road craft and attitude, well we are paragons compared to some of the edjits out today. It didn't mar a fabulous day in gorgeous countryside. Highly recommended to anyone who hasn't tried it, it's worth the 90 minute drive.
Neil W

Neil's said it all! Superb day out, a little windy in a few places, but the sunshine more than made up for this. It'd be a really easy route to replicate for an "awayday" ride next year, maybe Spring or Autumn to miss the worst of the traffic, and there is an excellent pub at the half way point (not that we sampled it on this ride :-)

Report:
This ride didn't quite work out as planned....
I waited in the wrong place at Grove for the outward leg, decided to head out to lunch anyway and by chance met up with the group coming towards me at Cothill. Pat was killing time with a loop around the airfield as we were going to arrive too early at the pub. Just as well for me though...
The King's Arms at Sandford lock was closed for refurbishment, the next pub didn't do Sunday lunch and the third looked grotty. So we headed southwards to the Baldons. Alas the Mole was busy until 3:30 and the Seven Stars was also closed. So we settled for Nottcuts on the Golden balls roundabout and a late, alcohol-free lunch.
We returned via Sutton Courtney, Culham, Abingdon and Peep-o-day lane (yes 400 yards as the crow flies), Drayton, Steventon, the Hendreds and Ginge. It was a lovely Autumn afternoon and an enjoyable ride.

Report:
Brian and myself enjoyed a lovely weekend cycling in the Buckingham area with the Buckinghamshire Da. As you can see we bumped into a few cyclist that ride with our group. Brian and myself completed the moderate rides on both day. Saterday riding from Lacey Green to Waterperry garden centre taking in the phoneix Trail and Brill windmill, which was was very enjoyable, apart from the fact that we were left behind at Princes Risbourgh when the traffic lights changed but we managed to return to home base alone. On sunday we cycled from Lacey Green on a tour famous peoples and TV stars homes into Tring along the Canal and the water reseviors where there was an assortment of wild birds. On the return journey we travelled on serveral single track roads that were well past repair with no cars. On one very steep climb my bicycle thought it was a horse, I turned to look at a car that was approaching from behind and my front wheel hit a stone lifting off the ground dumping me in the road in front of the approaching car. Nothing hurt but my pride landing in the middle of the road on my bottom. I believe David did the short ride on Saturday and returned home, while Barry Des and Derek did the longer ,faster rides both days.Brian and I would recommend joining other DA's on some of thier rides, as it gives you a chance to enjoy the country side in other parts of England
