19 riders including 2 new faces tonight, Paul a colleague of Nigel's and Liz, on a glorious sunny evening. We headed eastwards, to avoid the regritted road to Denchworth, climbing via Lains Barn and through Lockinge to Ginge. Here the ride split with Steve taking 8 riders back by a shorter route and Edith the longer ride to Steventon.
The shorter ride enjoyed the descent into West Hendred then after a short stretch along the A417 turned off to return to Wantage through Ardington and the Sustrans path at a relaxed pace.

Windy ride through Denchworth, Baulking and Fernham to Farringdon and onto the pub, where we sat outside and waited (and waited and waited) for our food, which unfortunately contained less calories than we burned getting there! So we had to drink more beers!

Richard left at least 30 miutes early, only to be caught in Denchworth by the rest having taken in Littecot and Hatford on the way.

The twenty one riders starting from the Square became twenty as soon as we reached the Bay Tree pub, where Steve S got a puncture. Reassuring the group that he would catch up later, we pressed on through the Letcombes to the bottom of Hackpen with Kevin leading, at this point the 'climbers' took off up the hill towards Lambourn.

Edith led the remaining ten through Childrey where we met Steve S coming the other way. Off to Challow Station, then Charney Bassett, Lyford and the obligatory Denchworth before returning to Grove. 29km

Report:
Neil W rather fittingly led 18 riders on a circuitous journey across the Vale to the Lamb & Flag at Southmoor. More by luck than planning this was the number of riders on the first ride. The press pack outside the unfortunate Dr Kellys' house was sobering but a fine lunch lifted the spirits. Quite how 10 years ago we took 1 1/2 hours to get to Southmoor has faded with time but this time we curved out to Lockinge to try and fill the time. We took in nearly every road between Grove and Denchworth and a couple of bridleways. The bridleway from Southmoor due south to a minor east /west lane needs more use, perhaps some trail breaking off roaders would bash down the nettles for the more delicate roadies? Post lunch we wound our way west through Kingston Beauchamp and over the White Horse. While so close it seemed churlish not to have tea with the fine ladies of Uffington. Splendid as always. A gentle potter at the foot of the downs took us home to Wantage. The museum had sadly closed for more teas but the 10th anniversary ride didn't touch Denchworth a cause for amusement if nothing else.

Report:
Twenty four riders tonight, and a warm welcome to two new cyclists Myra and Clare.

Edith took the lead and off we all went to Denchworth, Lyford and Charney Bassett. We then went off down the bridle path to Pusey. At this point the faster group went off across the A420 led by Brian and the slower group followed Steve S and Diane on the tandem while Edith took up the rear. The slow group also crossed the A420 looping around to come back over the footbridge, Southmoor, West Hanney, Denchworth and Grove. The fast group who did a slighly longer ride finished back in Grove just minutes behind.

Report:
The longest ride off road ride of the calendar ended up being 87 KM for those that cycled from Stanford in the Vale!

A very enjoyable jaunt along the The Ridgeway to Barbery Castle where we stopped for a couple of minutes to enjoy the view. Then the rain started and we headed back on lower lying bridleways before crossing the M4 at Baydon and heading back to Wantage through Upper Lambourn. The rain was pretty constant and the hills were pretty steep, but the grins were pretty broad.

A warm welcome to Wen, who Kevin brought along for the ride this evening. It looked like being a very wet and miserable ride but in fact those of us who did arrive, said how glad we were that we had made it; the weather was perfect, cool and dry. Eight of us set off from Grove with Edith leading and Piers joined up with the ride just before we reached Denchworth. We then cycled a loop around Goosey, past the Asti Stud, through Charney Bassett and on to Southmoor. A right turn in Southmoor brought us to West Hanney and our return route was through Denchworth, back to Grove. 17 miles.
